The ancient Greek Gods and Goddess contain a wealth of stories and legends, wrapped in Myths which typically provide a story with a morale code designed to influence the reader into behaviour as fitting Greek culture of the era.
In this article, we look at Polycaon and the myths and legends surrounding Polycaon, Polycaon relationship to and with other Greek Gods and Goddess and key events and stories which relate to ancient astrology and the changing seasons.
Polycaon was one of the sons of the Laconian king, Lelex and Cleochareia, he had three brothers, Myles, Pterelaus, and Cleson. He married a woman called Messene who was reported to be a daughter of the king of Argos, Triopas (all seeing, or thrice sighted). His brother Myles inherited Lelex's throne on his death; but Messene could not bear to be the wife of a mere prince, so she apparently raised an army and they conquered part of the Peloponnese, and renamed it Messinia, and made the capitol Andania. There is no record of any children.
